BERNARD" MEET THE PEOPLE OF PARC LOCAL HOLIDAY EVENTS  NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS REGISTER NOW FOR MORE INFO "Spirit of the St. Bernard" On November 10th, we opened the doors of our clubhouse, lit up the sky with spotlights, and rolled out the red carpet (literally) to honor the legacy and history of the St. Bernard. New Orleans historian and filmmaker Lloyd Dennis honored film participants and debuted the 30-minute neighborhood retrospective to approximately 130 guests at the event hosted by Columbia Residential and the Bayou District Foundation. During the event, the film was screened for guests inside of our 46-seat resident movie theatre. The film will be permanently archived at the New Orleans African American Museum to ensure generations to come can learn about the history of the St. Bernard through the personal stories of its residents. Bayou District Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to the healthy revitalization and sustainability of the Bayou District and surrounding neighborhoods through quality education, housing and recreation opportunities. Because of supporters like you, the Bayou District Foundation has been able to equip children and families with the resources they need to break the cycle of poverty – for example: • In partnership with Capital One Bank, Kingsley House and the Neighborhood Development Foundation, BDF is providing financial literacy and homebuyer training that will help dozens of hard-working adults successfully realize the American Dream of homeownership – building a stronger, more sustainable community for all of us. • In partnership with Kingsley House, the BDF's early learning program will open in temporary quarters in January 2011, empowering 92 low-income children to begin their journey toward academic excellence. • Bayou District Foundation has begun a new partnership with First Tee of Greater New Orleans and City Park Golf Course. Professional golf instruction from local PGA professionals is available to residents throughout the Bayou District and Columbia Parc community.
