President and Michelle Obama Visit Columbia Parc
Words can’t describe how honored we are to have been visited by President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu on Sunday, August 29th. During a full day of appearances, speeches, and interviews to commemorate the 5th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the President made time for a tour of Columbia Parc and was also interviewed for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams from block 8 of our community. President Obama and the First Lady visited the home of one of our
residents, Maude Smith who formerly was a resident of St. Bernard, and her
grandson David Robichaux, Jr. and also took photos with other residents and staff. We are thankful to all of our supporters and friends who helped make this page in Columbia Parc’s history possible. Helping rebuild an important New Orleans neighborhood following Hurricane Katrina has been a privilege and honor for Columbia Residential.

Back to School
On August 7th, Columbia Parc hosted a back to school event for our students. We gave away 61 backpacks, and with help from other donors, these were filled with supplies such as paper, pencils, erasers, pens, scissors, crayons, folders, notebooks, and construction paper. We also held a raffle for five $50 gift cards to purchase uniforms or other supplies. We are proud of all of our students and are glad to help them get a good start to the new school year. |
